For customers who qualify for sales tax exemption, SkyGeek offers a streamlined process to ensure your purchases are properly classified and billed. Whether you're a reseller, nonprofit organization, or government entity, it's important to have your exemption status set up before placing an order to avoid unnecessary charges.
Setting Up Your SkyGeek.com Account as Tax-Exempt
To begin, customers must create or sign in to their account and upload a valid, state-issued Sales Tax Exemption Certificate. This certificate should reflect the state where the items will be shipped. If your exemption is already on file but you notice tax applied to your order, it may be due to a mismatch between your shipping destination and the states we have listed under your exemption. Exemptions can only be added one state at a time. If you have a multi-jurisdictional exemption, you will need to upload this document for each state in which you are exempt.
- Sign into your SkyGeek account or create one if you are not already registered.
- Click on your account in the upper right-hand corner.
-
Navigate to the “Tax Exemption” dropdown:

- From the Tax Exemption page, you will be able to upload and manage your tax exemption certificates.
Once you have uploaded your tax file for the appropriate state, you are good to go! Please note you may need to empty your cart and/or refresh the page before placing new tax-exempt orders.
SkyGeek accepts the following documentation:
- Reseller Certificate – Issued by your state or a standardized form that includes your business registration number.
- Tax Exemption Certificate – For organizations exempt from sales tax due to nonprofit status or other qualifying reasons.
-
Government Entity Documentation – If you’re ordering on behalf of a government agency, a certificate is preferred. However, we can verify exemption status based on your mailing address or email domain (e.g.,
.govor.mil).
Account-Level Management
- Tax exemption is tied to individual email addresses.
- Each user within your organization must be marked as exempt, or all orders should be placed using the same login credentials.
